New video now available of the exhibit!
Stop by the History Center this summer to take a step back in time to Yarmouth’s Visitors Days of 1959 with our newest photography exhibition. On view through the end of August, this show showcases large photo prints that provide beautifully clear and detailed views of the events, people, and places that made up Yarmouth’s Visitors Days celebrations.
From a huge parade along Main Street, featuring floats from many local businesses and organizations, to boat and fishing demonstrations on the Royal River to dog and horse shows at Bennett Field, this was a major community event during the summer of 1959. It gave rise to several more annual Visitors Days celebrations, eventually inspiring the Clam Festival in the mid-1960s.
The History Center is open Tuesday through Friday, from 10 am until 4 pm.
