Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at 7:00 pm ~ Environmental historian Matthew Klingle and photographer Michael Kolster will speak about “A River Lost and Found: The Androscoggin in Time and Place.”
Once reviled as “Maine’s dirty dog of rivers,” the Androscoggin is recovering, if incompletely. This collaborative talk between a professional photographer and environmental historian explores how we define and value nature in a world where we cannot escape the legacies of our history. The Androscoggin, we argue, is a place where Mainers if not all Americans need to rethink their relationships toward nature and one another.
This lecture is free for members of Yarmouth Historical Society and $5 for all others. The lecture series is sponsored by the Leon and Lisa Gorman Fund.
