Tuesday, May 15 at 7:00 pm ~ Yarmouth History Center welcomes historian and author Margaret S. Creighton to the Spring Lecture Series at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, May 15. Creighton will speak about her recent book, The Electrifying Fall of Rainbow City, which details the dazzling wonders and shocking tragedy that unfolded at the 1901 Pan American Exposition in Buffalo, New York, where the assassination of President William McKinley dominated the news from the fair.
Margaret Creighton is Professor of history and American cultural studies at Bates College and currently serves as the chair of the History Department. She holds a PhD from Boston University and teaches courses on 19th and 20th century American history as well as regional identity and the intersection of gender and geography. Creighton has authored several books on subjects including seafaring in the 19th century and the Civil War.
This lecture is free for members of Yarmouth Historical Society and $5 for all others. The lecture series is sponsored by the Leon and Lisa Gorman Fund.
