Now open! Stop by to view the Stonewall Gallery’s newest show featuring recent work by Yarmouth artist Mardie Weldon.
Throughout her work, which ranges from painting and assemblage to small sculptures and jewelry, Weldon layers images in ways that create opportunities for viewers to engage in the surreal, amusing, or unexpected. She says of her work: “My work is built on an awareness of the mixed up, broken down, rearranged ways we each view the world. Sometimes an assemblage idea arrives fully formed; sometimes associations are made in the studio….”
Originally from London, Ontario, Mardie Weldon worked abroad before settling in Maine. She studied at the New York School of Visual Arts and the British Institute of Florence, Italy, and holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts from Ryerson University in Toronto. Her work is held in collections worldwide.
Above and Beyond by Mardie Weldon will be on view at the Stonewall Gallery through August 28, 2018. The Gallery is located inside the Yarmouth History Center at 118 East Elm Street and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10-5.
