MAPPING MEMORY with Jeri Theriault
Join us in the new year at Yarmouth History Center for a two-day workshop with Maine poet and artist Jeri Theriault. The workshop is scheduled for Saturday, January 11 and Saturday, January 18, from 10:00-1:00 each day.
On the first day of this two-day workshop each participant will explore place-memories by first drawing their childhood home (or neighborhood), and then writing into the spaces created by these visual memories. No previous drawing experience needed! On day two participants will create memory collages and, again, write into the spaces.
Please bring a notebook, your favorite writing implement, and a snack or lunch. Jeri Theriault will provide paper and pencils for the drawings as well as some collage materials for day 2.
The cost for this two-day workshop is $100. Please register online or by calling the History Center at (207) 846-6259.
About the instructor: While she is best known for her poetry—Self-Portrait as Homestead is her most recent book—Jeri Theriault is also a practicing collage artist. Just as her maternal grandmother, her Mémère, made quilts from old clothes, Jeri constructs collages with junk mail, discarded magazines, and handmade papers. https://www.jeritheriault.com/
