Yarmouth History Center welcomed Candace Kanes, historian and former newspaper reporter and editor, to the Fall Lecture Series via Zoom on Tuesday, September 20 at 7:00pm. For this talk, Kanes shared her knowledge about the rich and evolving history of Maine’s newspapers. We offered this program as a complement to our new, and growing, online database of Yarmouth’s own Shopping Notes.
Candace Kanes, a former newspaper reporter and editor, and now a historian, likes libraries and dusty archives, doing research, writing about history and related topics. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism, a master’s in American and women’s studies, and a doctorate in American history. She has worked for newspapers in Ohio and Maine, taught history at several colleges in Maine, worked for a number of years as curator of Maine Memory Network at the Maine Historical Society, led numerous MHC book discussions, and curated a variety of museum exhibits.
This lecture is free and open to all. The lecture series is sponsored by the Leon and Lisa Gorman Fund.
