Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 7:00 pm ~ Yarmouth Historical Society is pleased to host historian Joseph Conforti as part of its Fall Lecture Series. Conforti is the author of the newly-published book Lizzie Borden on Trial: Murder, Ethnicity, and Gender, which explores not just the sensational murder trial and subsequent acquittal, but also investigates the intricacies of Borden’s personal life in turn-of-the-century America. A native of Fall River, Massachusetts, site of the infamous Borden murders, Conforti taught American and New England Studies at the University of Southern Maine for 24 years before retiring as Distinguished Professor Emeritus in 2011. Copies of his book will be available for sale and signing. This event is free for members of Yarmouth Historical Society and $5 for all others.
The lecture series is sponsored by Leon and Lisa Gorman.
