Thursday, September 20 at 7:00 pm ~ Yarmouth Historical Society and Royal River Conservation Trust are pleased to present a free film screening of Dirtbag on Thursday, September 20 at 7:00 pm. This new documentary charts the life and influence of Fred Beckey (1923-2017), hailed as one of the most influential mountaineers of all time. Beckey became a cult hero in the climbing community for his numerous first ascents as well as his pioneering new routes and freewheeling lifestyle. The film combines animations of Beckey’s personal journals with interviews, breathtaking aerial photography, and rare archival footage to weave together the tapestry of this complex man’s life. The film will be shown at the Yarmouth History Center at 118 East Elm Street. As part of this special screening, Patagonia of Freeport has donated a raffle prize package worth $200. Raffle tickets will be available at the screening.
The Royal River Film Series, which is planned jointly by Yarmouth Historical Society and Royal River Conservation Trust, is sponsored by R.M. Davis, with cookies by Maple’s. The series runs monthly, except December, through March 2019.
