Stop in the see the Stonewall Gallery’s newest show, Elements II by Yarmouth artist Cynthia Asherman. The show is brimming with dramatic Maine seascapes, beautiful floral still lifes, and contemplative landscapes, in both oil and watercolor. Of her pieces for this show, Asherman writes:
My inspiration for Elements II has been coalescing over the past three decades. My paintings weave multiple elemental phases through hard-as-rock solidity or fragility of a petal, liquid from inches-deep shallows or tiny droplets, or raging surf, and voluminous air brilliantly expansive and sun-filled or weighted and drenched with heavy fog. When we look at nature, really look, we see it all, how phases act on each other, become each other and pass through.
Elements II will be on view at the Yarmouth History Center, 118 East Elm Street in Yarmouth, Maine, through January 4, 2025. Our hours are Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:00-4:00.
