Our spring 2024 show in the Stonewall Gallery was Recognitions: Paintings and Quilted Works by Maine artist Anne Tommaso. For this exhibition, Tommaso explored Yarmouth with an eye toward capturing unusual perspectives and unexpected views. Of the show, she writes:
I hope many visitors recognize the structures, shapes, and spaces in these pieces. As I go to and from the High School every day or travel in Yarmouth, each scene has caught my eye or imagination and inspired me….These pieces have elevated my sense of place and connection to Yarmouth, the town where I have taught for the last sixteen years. This project has motivated me to continue to find–though painting or quilting–recognitions in other places or moments. My hope is that my work generates some similar energy and curiosity in others.
The show will be on view through June 29, 2024.
The Stonewall Gallery is located inside the Yarmouth History Center at 118 East Elm Street in Yarmouth, Maine. Our hours are Tuesday through Saturday, from 10:00-4:00.
