Yarmouth History Center is pleased to host local photographer Mike Leonard’s “After Dark” photography workshop on Tuesday, October 9 at 7:00 pm. This interactive class provides a complete program about shooting after the sun sets and before the sun rises and includes tips for shooting the Milky Way, aurora borealis, and moonlit scenes. Students will also gain an understanding of the equipment needed to capture night images. If time and weather permit, photographers may have an opportunity to experiment with new techniques outside the History Center on the evening of the class. The cost of the class is $20 per person ($15 for members of Yarmouth Historical Society) or $5 for students. Please register in advance by calling Yarmouth History Center at 207-846-6259. The History Center is located at 118 East Elm Street in Yarmouth.
Mike Leonard graduated from Yarmouth High School in 1980, attended the University of Southern Maine, and chose television production and engineering as a career path, but always kept an eye open for photography and photo education. He now pursues photography full time and is actively promoting photo tourism and education to help photographers of all levels make their best shots. His work can be seen locally at Pat’s Pizza, Mr. Bagel, the Barber Shop, Intermed, and frequently on covers of The Notes. His work has also been featured in books, magazines, and textbooks as well as in television segments nationally on the Weather Channel and the National Geographic Wild program.
